Siraitia grosvenorii

The lung’s favorite fruit

This strongly sweet fruit, Siraitia grosvenorii crops in a beautiful tropical environment surrounded by ancient mountains. It has been used in China for thousands of years, though in the beginning consuming this fruit was the privilege of the Chinese emperors. It can be used as a substitute for sugar and even syrup can be made of this fruit by overboiling the infusion. The sweet taste is due to mogrosides (a group of triterpene-glycosides) that can be found in the flesh of the fruit. It can be used as a substitute for sugar for diabetes patients or during a slimming diet even for cooking. In case of increased thirst it is suggested to drink the infusion refrigerated. Uses and administration: Prepare infusion of the dried food. Draw half of a fruit in 1,5 l of hot water and steep it for 15 minutes. If it is too sweet, delute it. For the whole family use the whole of 1 fruit. Half the fruit, draw the halves with 3 l of water. You can also use the fruit as a sweetener for cooking, and overboiling the infusion gives sweet syrup.
